The good news is I bought a big boy potty. The bad news is… my child is definitely not ready to start using it. (I’m going to start “trying” to use it as part of his daily routine with no real expectations until he’s a bit older and more communicative… I’ll let you know it goes). It is now secret that colic is a dread phase or part of parenthood. We learned about it in prenatal class back in 2017 before my eldest son Lucas was born. They call it “Purple Crying”. The perfect gift set for first time parents

When I was pregnant with Lucas in 2017 I had no idea I was going to be exclusively pumping for him for eighteen months. I was not fully equipped when I decided to exclusively pump. I had some Philips Avent bottles but I didn’t know you had to have a sterilizer and sterilize them a specific way. I also didn’t own a bottle warmer and let me tell you, a bottle warmer is a winner! What exactly is a dream feed?

The dream feed. Yet another phrase added to my post baby vocabulary. I remember the first time I said, “well I’m going to dream feed him”, and Spencer looked at me like I was crazy. What is a dream feed? A dream feed is when you “wake” your baby between 10pm and midnight (right before you go to bed), and top them off with some mama’s milk. I say “wake” in parenthesis because I never actually woke Grayson up to dream feed. I simply pulled him out of bed, fed him, and put him back. He would keep his eyes closed the whole time, but would be awake enough nurse.

My mother in law would tell me stories about how my husband when he was a infant she would walk around with him for hours as he cried because he was so colicky and she didn’t know what to do.
