My favourite Baby Monitor
Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor
I have been using the Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor for watching over Lucas while he sleeps in his crib ever since he was 5 weeks old. Please note that I am creating this blog post as a paid ambassador with Philips Avent & PTPA. All opinions are my own & I only work with companies I genuinely love or have used prior to being contacted. It gave me incredible peace of mind since I am in my room! The monitor has a range up to 150ft which is amazing. My absolute favorite future is the ECO mode. We actually didn't realize what it was for until maybe after 4-5 weeks after using it and having our room lit up from the baby monitor making it hard to sleep! Once I read up on it we immediately took advantage. ECO mode reduces power consumption during Luke's sleep but is still connected via an indication that switches off the audio and video transmission. Once it detects any sound it turns the sound & screen on so I can take a quick peak and see if Luke is shuffling or awake.
We chose this monitor because it has a PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Seal of Approval. My husband researches the monitors since tech is his field. The monitor has a 3.5" high res color screen with 2x digital zoom. When it becomes light in Luke's room the monitor is color and when it is dark it goes into night mode.
Another feature I really appreciate is the temperate sensor. It shows the temperature in the corner of the monitor near the battery life. It will alert you if it becomes to warm or too cold in baby’s room and also has a vibration alert. It can also has a “talk back” feature where you can talk into the parent unit & soothe baby through the monitor, however I have never used it for that.. Normally I use it if my husband is in their changing a diaper to scare him or to let him know where things are in the nursery. LOL I also like to use it when I need something if I’m putting Luke to bed.. My husband can hear me through the monitor & grab whatever it is.
If I could recommend one monitor it would hands down be this Philips Avent. We had previously looked into getting other types that are Bluetooth and go on your phone but we have been very conscious about the radiation emitted by Bluetooth devices. Although it is below what the current regulatory agencies consider “safe”, there are many who question whether their “safe” is really, well, safe. I personally don't feel comfortable having anything Bluetooth near my son’s head or my own! I don't even sleep with my phone by my head. If I do, it's on Airplane mode.
The monitor also has a beautiful future that is a comforting night light & plays lullabies to soothe baby but we don’t use it as often. If Luke is being relatively fussy I will turn on Hush little baby.
As new parents using Philips Avent products has been a pretty big staple in our home. It is a brand that we can trust in & have never been let down! I like that the monitor is rechargeable & has 10 hours of battery life before needing to be recharged so I can take it into the living room with me while I fold laundry or do some paper work instead of hauling back & fourth a cord to hook it in each time from the other rooms to the bedroom. It is comforting know that this little machine has such strong features that ease our minds as new parents but also let us watch over out little one to make sure all is well in the nursery.
